No one pressured me to join TVK - M.R. Vijayabaskar clarifies

Chennai,

The opposition parties have been continuously alleging that since the TVK did not get the majority required to form the government in the assembly elections, they are engaging in horse-trading and luring MLAs from other parties to their side.

The DMK had already officially lodged a complaint with the Governor in this regard.

In this situation, after former AIADMK minister M.R. Vijayabhaskar joined the TVK, he had stated that "we did not go for positions, but joined the party because TVK members invited us."

In connection with this, DMK members have now lodged a complaint with the Governor. Meanwhile, former AIADMK minister M.R. Vijayabhaskar has stated that he joined the TVK of his own volition, and that no one pressured him or invited him to join the TVK.

Regarding this, M.R. Vijayabhaskar told reporters:

What I said during the interview when I joined the TVK in Mahabalipuram was misunderstood. No one from TVK invited me. Due to dissatisfaction with the AIADMK leadership, MLAs, former ministers, former MLAs, and district-level functionaries, all in large numbers, went and joined the TVK.

In Karur too, many AIADMK functionaries urged to join TVK. We consulted all the functionaries regarding this. After most of them said we could join TVK, we joined TVK. This is what we said during the interview. It was misunderstood.

Until we joined the party, TVK members did not invite us. Our functionaries also wanted to join TVK. That is why city secretaries and ward secretaries have joined TVK with me.

Thus he said.
